Rose the Fairy Queen

Rose became the fairy queen by virtue of being born when a large, pink rose first unwrapped its blossom toward the sun. Roses represent royalty in the flower world, and on rare occasions when a fairy is born from a rose, she becomes the next queen.

  • Characteristics: Regal, kind, and fun loving, Rose is all that a fairy queen should be. Her gentle smile inspires other fairies, while her wand and crown contain powerful magic.
  • Size and Color: Standing 4 ½ inches tall, Rose the Fairy Queen wears the colors of her namesake flower. Roses can be many colors of course, but in the wild, they are most often pink, which is represented in Rose’s dress and wings. She wears purple also, the color of royalty, in keeping with fairy tradition.
  • Rose the Fairy Queen is part of the Fairy Fantasies® collection.

Fairies, like elves, are immortal. Their passing takes them from one world to the next, from earth to a fairy kingdom over the sea. When an aged queen is ready to make the journey over the sea, she awaits the birth of a new queen, one born from a rose, as a sign that her reign in complete. Before Rose the fairy queen, the flower fairy queen ruled in joy and wisdom for several centuries. Rose remembered her vaguely, shining golden hair, light pink wings. Rose’s crown and wand were inherited from the past queen, who inherited from the queen before, from time beyond memory.

Rose the fairy queen never wanted to take her position for granted. Above all, she sought knowledge, so that she might reign in peace and prosperity, protecting the flower fairy kingdom. As the eldest of all flower fairies, none remained in this realm who could teach her, so she sought wisdom in the fairy archives, a simple cave beneath an old beech tree near the edge of the forest. There she learned the secrets of her crown, the gold overlaid dragon teeth, how the sapphire jewels were brought back over the sea by the only fairy to make the return journey. She learned how a wizard, a friend of humans but himself an immortal elf, had fashioned the crown using dragon fire. She placed the dusty scroll back among the rows. So much to learn. Rose smiled. She enjoyed mysteries of the past as much as the vibrancy of the present.
